After two years, Mato Jajalo was given the opportunity to add to his seven national team’s appearances some more.
For the BH “A” national team, he made his debut in 2016 against Belgium and is now on Prosinečki’s list for duels with Finland and Greece within the EURO qualifications, imposing himself with his matches in the Italian first-division team, Udinese.
“The fact is, I played in the second league and I was aware that it certainly kept me out of the national team. However, it is impossible to do in football what anyone wants, so despite the opportunity to go somewhere else, at the insistence of the president, I remained in Palermo. After the expiration of my contract, other possibilities opened up, I signed for the first-league club in Italy and I think that games at that level brought me back to the national team”, Jajalo told for the official website of the Federation.
In relation to the period from two years ago, some things are different now.
“I followed everything related to the national team and of course the BH league. I see a much younger team here and a more positive atmosphere, which is very good.”
The match with Finland will follow on Saturday, three days later with Greece; do you expect some playing time?
“Each of us present, wishes to play. I know I have to do my best, impose myself and the head coach will decide who will play. I can say that I always like when I come to the gathering, because here are the best players we have. I’m happy to be here again, especially now with this young and very positive team. Here, one can only feel good.”
