This decision was made in September 2019 at the regular session of the UEFA Executive Committee, chaired by Aleksandar Čeferin. The European Championship will be held in Sarajevo, Zenica, Mostar and Široki Brijeg, and eight teams will participate, which will be divided into two groups. For the first time, the three best teams from the European Championship will achieve direct qualification for the World Cup. Bosnia and Herzegovina has a guaranteed place as the host of the tournament, and seven more national teams will "get visas" through the second round of qualifications, which is scheduled for 8-30 March.

Preparations for this competition practically started the day after UEFA's decision for our country to host the best young national teams in Europe. In the past two years, the Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Federation has made great efforts to justify the trust placed in our country and to welcome all participants and other guests at the highest level. Our Federation has already had the opportunity to organize numerous qualification tournaments for younger ages with great success, but the organization of the European Championship will be a new challenge, which we believe will significantly contribute to the affirmation of our country across the "Old continent".

"For us, the organization of the European Women's U-17 Championship is a great honour and privilege, but an even greater obligation", says the BH FF President, Vico Zeljković. "I am sure that we will justify the trust shown to us and that everyone will bring only positive impressions from this competition, both participants and representatives of the European House of Football. This is a nice opportunity for the cities hosting the matches to take an active part, thus supporting this project and further promoting all their sports and tourism potentials.

UEFA allocates significant funds and pays special attention to the development of women's football, and we as the Federation will use this opportunity to further promote women's football among the younger population through a series of events and activities."

The BH FF will do everything to use its full experience in organizing qualifying tournaments, and thus justify the trust of UEFA, which will certainly be confirmed by the quality organization of this prestigious event.
