History 2021.

  • In 2021, the BH “A” national team played 13 matches, of which 8 were qualifying and 5 friendlies. The Dragons recorded 2 wins, 6 draws and 5 defeats in those matches.

In the qualifications for the 2022 World Cup, the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina took 4th place in Group D behind France, Ukraine and Finland, and ahead of Kazakhstan.

  • In the qualifications for EURO 2023, after 7 rounds, the BH U-21 national team achieved 2 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats, and ended the year ranking 4th behind Italy, Sweden and the Republic of Ireland, and ahead of Montenegro and Luxembourg.

In 2021, the young national team also played three friendly matches in achieved one victory it won against Malta and two wins against Qatar.

  • The BH women’s “A” national team has started the qualifications for the 2023 World Cup, where, after the 6th round, it is in the 4th place behind Denmark, Russia and Montenegro, and ahead of Malta and Azerbaijan.
  • In the group 6 of qualifications for EURO 2022, the BH U-19 national team players took first place in the group ahead of the Republic of Ireland, Montenegro and Bulgaria, and achieved qualification for the elite round.
  • The BH U-17 national team achieved qualification for the elite qualifying round as one of the 4 best third-ranked teams from the groups. The team BH was in group 7 behind Switzerland and Finland, and ahead of Gibraltar.
  • The BH U-15 national team won the first place at the memorial tournament “Josip Katalinski-Škija”, which was held in Zenica, and the 5th place at the tournament “Vlatko Marković” in Croatia. In addition to participating in tournaments, the BH pioneers also played 8 friendly matches in which they achieved 1 win, 4 draws and 3 defeats.
  • The BH women’s U-19 national team was superior in the League B for qualification for the 2022 European Championship, and in group 6 won first place with 9 points with a goal difference of 18:0. The young She-Dragons left Montenegro, Estonia and Armenia behind, and achieved qualification for League A.
  • In the qualifications for EURO 2022, the BH women’s U-17 national team finished in the 4th place in Group 4 of League A behind Germany, Portugal and Finland.
  • The BH futsal national team has made a historic success, and for the first time qualified for the European Championship, which should be held in the Netherlands in 2022. Led from the bench by head coach Ivo Krezo, the national team players won the first place in qualifying group 4 with 15 points ahead of Serbia (9), Romania (6) and Northern Macedonia (2).
  • The BH U-19 futsal national team participated in the Futsal Love tournament in Vrnjačka Banja, where it was better than Finland in the match for third place. In the group stage, our team defeated Croatia, while it was defeated by France.
  • The women’s futsal team took 3rd place in Group B of the European Championship qualifiers behind the Netherlands and Armenia, and ahead of Moldova.
  • The champion of the BH Premier League in the 2020/21 season is FK Borac, while the SFK 2000 Sarajevo team won the female senior competition. The BH futsal champion is Mostar Stari Grad.
  • The winner of the Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the men’s competition is FK Sarajevo, and SFK 2000 Sarajevo in the women’s competition. Mostar Stari Grad won the BH Futsal Cup.
  • In the youth categories, the BH champions are the juniors of FK Zvijezda 09, the cadets of HŠK Zrinjski and the pioneers of FK Željezničar. The winners of the BH Premier Women’s U-17 League are female cadets of SFK 2000 Sarajevo.
  • BH representative in the UEFA Champions League, the Borac team, was stopped in the first qualifying round by Romanian Cluj, and continued the competition in the UEFA Conference League where, in the second qualifying round, it was unsuccessful against Linfield, the representative of Northern Ireland.

The most notable performance of the BH representatives in the Conference League had Mostar’s Velež. The “Born” eliminated Coleraine from Northern Ireland in the first qualifying round, and in the second round, they were better than the famous Greek team AEK. In the third qualifying round, the Swedish representative Elfsborg was better than Mostar.

Sarajevo and Široki Brijeg were stopped in the first qualifying round by the Moldovan Milsami, i.e., the Albanian Vllaznia.

  • In the UEFA Women’s Champions League, the SFK 2000 Sarajevo team was defeated by the Luxembourgian Racing Union with 0:1 in the semi-final match of qualifying group 4. In the match for third place, the BH champions, after better penalty kicks, beat Qiryat Gat from Israel.
  • In the UEFA Futsal Champions League, in Group 8 of the main round, Mostar SG finished behind the Dutch Hovocubo and the Finnish Kampuksen Dynamo and ahead of the Moldovan Dinamo Plus.
  • In 2021, there was no shortage of grassroots activities either.

A tournament for girls under 12 was held at the BH FF Training Centre in Zenica, as part of the UEFA Grassroots Week celebrations, on 30th September, at which the participants were Krivaja Zavidovići, Inter Posušje, Vogošća, Posavina Domaljevac, SFK 2000 Sarajevo, Sloboda Tuzla, Fortuna Živinice, BAAP Sportivo Sarajevo, Sloga Prijedor, Mladost Laktaši, Radnik Bijeljina, Željezničar Bosanska Krupa, Lokomotiva Brčko and ŠF Respekt Sarajevo. UEFA Grassroots Week events were also held in Trebinje, Sarajevo and Doboj.

In July, a tournament for girls under 13 was held in the Zenica Training Camp, which was won by the Radnik team. SFK 2000 Sarajevo, Fortuna, Lokomotiva, Željezničar from Bosanska Krupa, Krivaja and BAAP Sportivo also took part in the tournament.
