Agreement on National Stadium Project

Today in Zenica, an agreement was signed between the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Zenica-Doboj Canton Government regarding the project of building and using a national football stadium at the Bilino Polje site.

The agreement was signed by FFBiH general secretary Adnan Džemidžić and ZDC prime minister Nezir Pivić.

By signing, both sides expressed their commitment to jointly work on the project, which foresees phased reconstruction of the current Bilino Polje stadium to meet all UEFA and FIFA requirements for top-level matches.

Džemidžić said the signing is a major first step toward a long-held dream of building a national stadium: "This means a lot to all of us. You know how much support has grown out of Zenica – from the Training center to the National stadium idea. However everything takes time. On our side, we’ll do all that’s needed. We have the strength, will, and capacity, and we’ll use the opportunity before us."

He added that once the conceptual design is finished, work will move on to the main project. The stadium will be built through phased reconstruction, with capacity expected to rise by about 30%.

Prime minister Pivić: "It’s a great honor and pleasure to be part of such an important project. The national stadium to be built at Bilino Polje isn’t just infrastructure, but also an identity project, because the history of BiH sport is being written here. This year we’ve committed to jointly finance the conceptual design. In the agreement, we at Ze-Do Canton expressed our readiness to remain active partners next year as well, in line with the project’s timeline."
