Head coach Sergej Barbarez and player Ivan Šunjić spoke to the media. Coach Barbarez pointed out our team’s readiness: “Training was excellent, we’re very pleased with how the guys worked. The core of this preparation was Wednesday—it was the first day everyone got together, so we focused on it, tried to rehearse some things and implement ideas in short, intense training segments. We’re trying to set up the team that should play. We’re happy with what we saw today, with a few tactical elements inthe mix. I think what we need for Cyprus is already in our heads.”
Šunjić, who plays for Cypriot club Pafos, knows the upcoming opponent well: “We’re in for a tough match, we saw in Zenica against them that it wasn’t easy. We knew it’d be that kind of game. We saw their last two matches: they played really well, stayed level with their opponents until the end. Against Romania they came back from behind, showed character. It’ll be a tough game, they’re fired up, especially when playing at home. But we’re ready.”
The team travels to Cyprus today, and the match will be played tomorrow at AEK Arena in Larnaca at 20:45 CET (21:45 local time).
