A press conference was held today at the FFBiH headquarters in Sarajevo, where national "A" team head coach Sergej Barbarez disclosed the names of players he’s counting on for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Germany and the Netherlands. You can download the player list HERE.

 

Barbarez commented: “We definitely have a plan, and these new players will bring some added quality. Of course, there are 26 players on the list, so there's a bit of pressure on them to set everything aside and focus first on making the 23, then on making the starting 11. Will there be new elements? For sure, we have some ideas, but it remains to be seen who’s fit to compete. Nothing’s guaranteed for anyone. This three-day game rhythm comes with its disadvantages, and we’ll think about that too. There will be some rotation to make sure we’re 100% ready for both matches.”

 

Compared to previous lineups, three new players are on the list: Ivan Šunjić, Samed Baždar, and Luka Kulenović.

“Each name here brings a different notion behind it; every guy here has something to contribute to our growth. Ivan’s been a long-standing option - I like his style, his positioning that can relieve our midfielders so they can play more creatively and forward-focused. With Baždar, we’ve brought in a young guy who could be part of our squad for the next decade if he continues to perform at this level. I see progress in him and qualities we’ll benefit from. Kulenović is making his own path and is at a very satisfactory level. Our plan is to have at least four strikers going forward, since that’s something we need, especially a player type who brings strength, endurance, and goal-scoring abilities, which is exactly what we’re after,” said Sergej Barbarez.

 

The players will gather on November 11 in Germany.
