Barbarez Selects Players for March Matches

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s national“A” football team will play in the playoffs for qualification to the 2026 World Cup at the end of this month.

The Dragons will face Wales away in Cardiff on March 26 in the playoff semifinal, while on March 31 they’ll host Italy or Northern Ireland at Bilino Polje in Zenica.

Head coach Sergej Barbarez is counting on 25 players for the upcoming matches, and the list can be downloaded HERE.

Barbarez said the following about the roster and the upcoming games: “An extremely important gathering lies ahead of us and an opportunity to achieve a great success. I believe in this team and in the work we’re doing, and I hope we’ll play the playoff final on March 31 in front of our fans. The list includes players we believe can meet the demands of matches of this importance. Compared to previous gatherings, there are two new players, Nidal Čelik and Jovo Lukić. With their performances and form recently, they’ve drawn attention to themselves. We know a tough match against Wales awaits us in Cardiff, but our goal is to play bravely and proudly and try to secure a positive result that would bring us one step closer to qualifying for the World Cup. I believe this national team has the quality for big things.”

Sergej Barbarez will hold a press conference on March 23 at 11:00 at the FFBiH headquarters in Sarajevo.
