Coach Sergej Barbarez answered media questions at the press conference after the match: "I'm still emotional. I'm happy to have been part of this team tonight. We played against two top European teams, and except for a 30-minute period against England and few 5-10 minute intervals against Italy, we were equal. These eight matches we have this year are a great asset for a young team, even without 14-15 players, and despite the inconvenient June schedule we keep mentioning, I'm glad we played these games and tested many players. I can't say I'm satisfied because we lost, but I'm very happy because we also gained a lot," said Barbarez.
The coach also summarized the entire period from the first gathering to the match against Italy: "I won't get tired of repeating that we need to be realistic, to know where we stand, and how many matches we've lost this year and last. This is a new path we're taking, we have some new ideas, and I'm positive these guys can do it. We saw what happened in these ten days, the development of each individual, and how the perception around the team has changed. After the game, we saw their unity, which makes us happy. The main plan was successful, to bring them together, to motivate them to play for our country with more willpower and desire," said Barbarez.
