The first two encounters between these teams were friendlies. The match at the Albert Florian stadium in Budapest on March 10, 1999, ended 1:1. Bosnia and Herzegovina took the lead via Meho Kodro’s goal in the 39th minute, and Hungary equalized with Béla Illés scoring from a penalty in the 65th minute.
The second game, played at Bilino Polje in Zenica on February 28, 2001, also concluded 1:1. Ferenc Horváth scored for Hungary in the 13th minute, while our current national "A" team coach, Sergej Barbarez, equalized in the 22nd minute.
As part of the Euro 2008 qualifiers, Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted Hungary at Bilino Polje on September 6, 2006. The visitors won 1:3 - Zvjezdan Misimović scored the only goal for the Dragons from a penalty in the 64th minute, while Hungary’s goals came from Szabolcs Huszti (36', penalty), Zoltán Gera (46'), and Pál Dárdai (49').
The return match was played at the Sóstói stadium in Székesfehérvár on September 8, 2006, where Hungary won 1:0 with a penalty by Zoltán Gera in the 39th minute.
Bosnia and Herzegovina faced Hungary in the UEFA A Nations League at the Puskás Arena on September 10 this year, and the match ended 0:0.
The BiH-Hungary match is scheduled for October 14 at 20:45 at the Bilino Polje stadium in Zenica.
The main referee will be Anthony Taylor from England, assisted by peers Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn. The fourth official is Darren England, while David Coote and Constantine Hatzidakis will monitor the game in the VAR room.
