Coach and Players Talk About the Match With Ukraine

Coach Savo Milošević was pleased with his team's performance, which followed all the tactical ideas of the coaching staff: "The eighty-five minutes were pretty good. I feel sorry for the guys and the way we conceded two goals from counterattacks towards the end of the match. The final result was heavily influenced by the injuries of our two important players. I can't blame anyone in terms of commitment, fighting spirit, and quality. We played against a serious team and managed to completely neutralize them. There was a lack of focus to finish the match properly. The only responsibility, if it exists, lies with the coaching staff and me. Tactically, the players executed everything we asked for perfectly. Until a draw, Ukraine didn't create a chance against us. This team has shown it can do much more, and that's something I've been saying from the beginning to them and to the public. We have a solid, quality team base, with many young players with character."

Edin Džeko didn't score a goal, but as always, he was an important player in our game: "It's sad that we conceded a goal from a counterattack. That's their strongest weapon, and we avoided it throughout the entire match. We all gave our best, and judging by the cramps players were experiencing, we might have even gone beyond our capabilities. We could have achieved much more in terms of the result. Until we conceded the goal, they didn't even have one shoot on target. It's not good to lose, but this has been our best game in a while, especially tactically. It's a pity about the injuries, which also affected and disrupted our game. If these young guys continue to play like today, I'm sure everything will be good."

Anel Ahmedhodžić had to leave the game earlier due to injury: "We followed the plan, everything was fine until the 80th minute. I don't know what happened then. It was the first time in my life that I experienced leg cramps during a match, and unfortunately, I couldn't run and continue the game. I'll be here and I'll fight with the team even when it's tough."
