Defeat against Portugal

The national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered a convincing defeat against Portugal with a score of 5:0 (5:0) at the Bilino Polje Stadium in Zenica in the 8th round of qualifying Group J for the European Championship.

Portugal took the lead in the 5th minute from the penalty shot by Cristiano Ronaldo, after the ball hit Adrian Leon Barišić’s hand after Joao Felix’s shot. In the 20th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo escaped the attention of our defence and scored the second goal with an assist by Joao Felix. Five minutes later it was already 0:3. Goncalo Inacio moved our defence with a long ball, Bruno Fernandes received the ball and beat Ibrahim Šehić with a strong shot. Portugal scored the fourth goal in the 32nd minute, with Joao Cancelo’s shot from 16 meters after a pass by Bruno Fernandes. Joao Felix made it 5:0, after Otavi’s cross from the right.

In the other matches in our group, Iceland defeated Liechtenstein 4:0, while Slovakia defeated Luxembourg 1:0 away.

Two rounds before the end, Portugal leads the table with 24 points. In second place is Slovakia with 16 points, Luxembourg has 11, Iceland 10, Bosnia and Herzegovina 9, and the last is Liechtenstein with no points.

The qualifications continue in November, when our national team first visits Luxembourg on 16th November, and three days later hosts Slovakia at Bilino Polje.
