Defeat Against Slovenia

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s national "A" team played a friendly match against Slovenia tonight in Celje, losing 2:1.

Slovenia threatened as early as the 3' when Blaž Kramer found himself in a great position, but our goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj made an excellent save. Vasilj impressed again in the 24', stopping Sandi Lovrić’s shot following a defensive mistake. The best chance for BiH in the first half came in the 33' - Ivan Bašić tried from distance, but the ball went just wide of the left post.

Slovenia took the lead in the 63' via Benjamin Verbič, who scored with a precise strike after a solo run down the left side.

Just five minutes later, Amar Dedić had a brilliant chance to equalize after breaking from midfield, but his shot from the edge of the box struck the crossbar of Jan Oblak’s goal.

In the final minutes, Slovenia created another good opportunity through Andrés Vombergar, but our defender Nikola Katić made a fantastic last-second tackle. In the 85', Nail Omerović fired from inside the box, but Oblak denied him.

In the 89', a penalty was awarded to Slovenia. Andrés Vombergar converted it confidently.

The final score was set in the last minute of stoppage time. Nail Omerović delivered a corner, and Tarik Muharemović headed in his first goal for the Dragons.

Bosnia and Herzegovina will resume qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in September. In Round 5, on September 6, our best team will visit San Marino, followed by a home match against Austria on September 9.
