Defeat in Amsterdam

The “A” national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina was defeated tonight at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam by the Netherlands with 1:3 in the match of the fifth round of Group 1 of the UEFA A Nations League.

Owen Wijndal tried to cross from the right side in the 3rd minute and hit the post of the BH team. A minute later, Miralem Pjanić tried from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball went beside the goal.

The home team took the lead in the 6th minute. After a great action, Denzel Dumfries sent the ball into the five-meter area for Georginio Wijnaldum who was precise for 1:0.

In the 13th minute, Amer Gojak passed well on the left side and returned the ball to the edge of the penalty area for Pjanić who shot over the goal.

Already in the next attack, the Dutch doubled their advantage. Memphis Depay centred from the left, Steven Berghuis put the ball down by head for Wijnaldum, and the captain of the Netherlands scored his second goal tonight for 2:0.

The captain of the Netherlands Wijnaldum had a good opportunity in the 30th minute, but Ibrahim Šehić defended his attempt.

Rade Krunić also tried from 16 meters in the 33rd minute, but Tim Krul defended. Armin Hodžić was not precise in the 42nd minute after the centre kick of Pjanić.

Depay played great Steven Berghuis in the 47th minute, who came out alone in front of Šehić, but our goalkeeper intervened well. Depay also tried in the 51st minute, but Ibrahim Šehić was once again up to the task.

In the 54th minute, Pjanić sent the ball into the opponent’s penalty area for Hodžić who passed the ball to Višća by his head, but the wing attacker shot next to the goal.

In the 55th minute, it was 3:0 for the Netherlands. Another good action of the home team, Dumfries left the ball on a five-meter area for Depay who scored a goal.

The Dragons reduced the advantage of the Netherlands in the 63rd minute. Just two minutes after entering the game, Smail Prevljak scored after a pass by Edin Višća from the right side.

Prevljak had another great opportunity in the 78th minute. Višća played him again from the right side, but this time our attacker sent the ball next to the goal from ten meters.

Vladan Danilović and Almedin Ziljkić made their first appearances for Bosnia and Herzegovina in this match.

With this defeat, our national team lost its chances to stay in the A Nations League. The last round is scheduled for 18th November, when Bosnia and Herzegovina will welcome the Italian national team at the “Grbavica”.
