The captain Edin Džeko said after the match:
“It was a good match and we deserved to win. Northern Ireland is a team that enjoys in playing, and we highly pressured and forced them to play high balls. They also had their opportunities and we were lucky, but fortune follows the brave.”
Ibrahim Šehić is of a similar opinion:
“We knew that this would be a tough match and we prepared for their playing style. We controlled the match, but Northern Ireland also had opportunities and hit goalposts. We were lucky then, but that’s also what we certainly deserved. I hope we will continue this way in the Nations League too.”
Edin Višća believes that the team shows progress from match to match:
“We played better than the previous two matches. There were again some mistakes, but we play better and better. The most important thing is that we have nine points and now we are going to Austria not to lose.”
