In the starting line-up, head coach Dušan Bajević gave the opportunity to three debutants, Josip Ćorluka, Amar Rahmanović and Irfan Hadžić.
Hadžić was the first to threaten in the match. He shot from a distance in the 3rd minute, but Iranian goalkeeper Amir Abedzadeh stopped his shot.
Iran had a great opportunity in the 17th minute, when Rezaei Kaveh shot unhindered from a favourable position, but Jasmin Burić intervened well. A minute later, Burić saved the goal once again when he reached the ball before Vahid Amiri. The BH goalkeeper was injured during that intervention, so Kenan Pirić replaced him.
In the finish of the first half, Miralem Pjanić tried from a free kick, but hit the wall and went to the break without goals.
Iran took the lead in the 46th minute. Amiri took the ball away from Bojan Nastić and sent it to the penalty area of the BH team to Kaveha who was accurate for 0:1.
Rahmanović tried from a distance in the 68th minute, but he was not precise. Armin Hodžić shot from twenty meters in the 88th minute, and the ball went over the goal.
The final score was set by Mehdi Ghayedi in the first minute of the additional time after an excellent assist by Saeid Ezatolahi. Two minutes later, Benjamin Tatar shot hard from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball went beside the goal.
