The first half passed without many clear-cut chances. Bosnia and Herzegovina matched the home team, with play mostly taking place in midfield and featuring plenty of duels. The first serious opportunity of the match came only in the 44’, when Sebastian Szymanski shot toward the Dragons’ goal, but Martin Zlomislić made the save and the teams went into the break goalless.
The second half was more eventful, with chances at both ends. In the 55’, Zlomislić made two saves within a matter of seconds, first from Matty Cash and then from Sebastian Szymanski. Four minutes later, Wiktor Nowak tried his luck from long range, but the ball went wide, while in the 62’, Nicola Zalewski shot from around 10 meters at an angle and also missed the target.
Bosnia and Herzegovina created its first serious opportunity of the second half in the 72’, when Bašić’s corner found Kerim Alajbegović, whose shot was saved by Bulka. Another Dragons attack followed in the 76’, with Alajbegović trying first and then Sead Kolašinac, but the home defense held firm.
The score remained unchanged until the end. Ermin Mahmić found himself in a good position in the 87’ but shot wide. In the final minute, Martin Zlomislić made an excellent save to deny Piotr Zielinski.
In the other match in our group, Sweden defeated Romania 2:1. In the next round, scheduled for Monday, September 28, Bosnia and Herzegovina will face Romania away.
