The Dragons had their first opportunity in the 8’, when Haris Tabaković ran through on goal after a ball in behind the defense but shot wide of the Romanian goal. Four minutes later, the opening goal arrived — Esmir Bajraktarević crossed from the right, and Armin Gigović headed the ball past Ionuț Radu and into the net. The lead was doubled in the 19’: Ivan Bašić took a corner from the right, and Tarik Muharemović rose highest to make it 0:2.
The home team responded in the 22’, when Nicolae Stanciu shot from 18 meters through the middle, but Martin Zlomislić pushed the ball out for a corner. Following the resulting corner kick, Daniel Bîrligea struck the BiH goalkeeper from several meters out. The same player pulled one back in the 28’ with a header following Lisav Eissat’s cross from the left.
Before the end of the first half, our team restored its two-goal advantage. In the 40’, Kerim Alajbegović shot from the edge of the penalty area, the Romanian goalkeeper failed to deal with it cleanly, and Haris Tabaković sent the rebound into the net for 1:3.
The first attempt of the second half came in the 52’, when Vlad Dragomir struck hard from more than 20 meters but sent the ball wide. Three minutes later, the Dragons scored their fourth goal — Bajraktarević again crossed from the right, and Ermin Mahmić headed past the Romanian goalkeeper from close range.
The home team reduced the deficit to 2:4 in the 62’ through Alexandru Cicâldău, whose shot from around 25 meters bounced before ending up in the net. In the 78’, Jovo Lukić shot over the goal from around 10 meters, while two minutes later Sead Kolašinac broke down the left and crossed, but Ermedin Demirović sent his effort wide. The score remained unchanged until the end.
In the other match in our group, Sweden defeated Poland 3:1 in Solna. After two rounds, Sweden leads the standings with six points, Bosnia and Herzegovina is second with four, Poland has one point, while Romania remains without a point.
In the next round, scheduled for Friday, October 2, Bosnia and Herzegovina will host Sweden at the Bilino Polje stadium at 20:45. In that match, Edin Džeko, the long-serving captain and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s record appearance maker and goalscorer, will bid farewell to the national team jersey.
