Draw in Helsinki

Bosnia and Herzegovina played tie today in Helsinki at the opening of the UEFA Nations League with Finland 1:1 (1: 0).

B&H opened the match better and had a slight field initiative in the first 10 minutes, and then the Finns were the ones who had more possession of the ball. In the 17th minute, Edin Džeko was the first to try from 16 meters from a difficult position, but the ball went over the goal. In the 35th minute, Amir Hadžiahmetović played to Sead Kolašinac on the left side, but his cross was too strong. Two minutes later, Miroslav Stevanović and Miralem Pjanić played a double pass, and Pjanić’s shot, bounced of the Finnish player, ended over the goal. In the continuation of the action, Miralem Pjanić took a corner, and Edin Džeko headed over the goal. In the 40th minute, the Finns had the first shot within the goal frame, when Ibrahim Šehić defended Teem Pukki’s shot from 10 meters diagonally. Three minutes later, Rasmus Schüller shot from 20 meters, the ball hit Sanjin Prcić in the arm, and the referee Nicholas Walsh pointed to the “white spot” on the assistance from the VAR room. Teemu Pukki was the sure scorer in the first minute of the additional time.

In the second half, B&H played more offensively and agile towards the goal of the Finns. In the first minute of the second half, after a mistake of the defence of our national team, Teemu Pukki was left alone in the 10 meters, but he shot next to the goal. In the 59th minute, Miroslav Stevanović assisted to Amer Gojak, who had time to set up 10 meters from the goal, but Leo Väisänen blocked his shot. In the 78th minute, the Finns combined nicely, and Jere Uronen’s shot went over the goal. In the first minute of the additional time, Luka Menalo shot well from 16 meters, but Lukas Hradecky intervened well. And when it seemed that the Finns would win, Smail Prevljak scored the equalizer in the 3rd minute of the additional time by the assistance of captain Edin Džeko.

In the second match in this group, tonight at 20:45 h, Montenegro and Romania will play.

B&H will play its next match on Tuesday, 7th June, when Romania comes to the Bilino Polje.
