Final Training Session Before Duel With Cyprus

Bosnia and Herzegovina's national "A" football team held its final training session today at FK Sarajevo's Training Center in Butmir, ahead of their Group H second round World Cup 2026 qualifier against Cyprus. The president of the FFBiH, Vico Zeljković, attended the training session and wished the players success in tomorrow's match.

Both teams won their opening matches two days ago. Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Romania 1:0 away, while Cyprus secured a 2:0 home victory over San Marino.

The national teams of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Cyprus have faced each other four times, with each side winning twice. However, Bosnia and Herzegovina holds a better goal difference of 8:7.

The first match took place at Bilino Polje in Zenica on September 9, 2014, during the European Championship qualifiers, with Cyprus winning 1:2. BiH took an early lead through Vedad Ibišević (6'), but the visitors turned it around with goals from Dimitris Christofi (45', 73').

The return leg was played at GSP Stadium in Nicosia on October 13, 2015, where Bosnia and Herzegovina secured a 3:2 win. Haris Medunjanin (13', 44') scored twice, while Milan Đurić (67') also found the net. Cyprus responded with goals from Constantinos Charalambides (32') and Nestor Mytidis (41').

The next two encounters were part of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. The first took place at Bilino Polje on October 10, 2016, where Bosnia and Herzegovina won 2:0 thanks to Edin Džeko (70', 81').

The most recent match was held at GSP Stadium on August 31, 2017, with Cyprus winning 3:2. Bosnia and Herzegovina had a two-goal lead after Toni Šunjić (33') and Edin Višća's (43') goals, but Cyprus made a dramatic comeback via Dimitris Christofi (65'), Vincent Laban (67'), and Pieros Sotiriou (76').

Tomorrow's match will be officiated by Rohit Saggi from Norway, alongside assistants Morten Jensen and Anders Olav Dale. Daniel Higraff will serve as the fourth official, while Tom Harald Hagen and Kristoffer Hagenes will oversee VAR, all from Norway.
