In addition to quality, a good atmosphere in the team is essential for success

After three days of preparation, the BH “A” national team will travel to Belfast this morning to play the first match within the UEFA Nations League on Saturday. This competition could be a significant factor in the EURO 2020 qualifiers, so a performance quality of the BH national team will be very important.

About this, but also about the past eight months at the head of our best team, the head coach Robert Prosinečki says:

“I think that I could see a lot of things in these eight months, not just in the playing sense, but in general, about living in Sarajevo, habits, socializing, but also getting to know new associates with whom I work. Basically, we were at gatherings three times, from America, to Bulgaria and South Korea, and I can say that the atmosphere is positive as well as the experiences of that period. I am pleased, in addition to the great atmosphere we have made, I feel well here too.”

Head coach, you constantly emphasize on the atmosphere; how much is it really important?

“In this part of the Balkans, this is very important. When you have a good atmosphere and when everyone is ready to dedicate maximum effort to a common goal, then everything is possible. It is difficult to make a significant success, if this does not exist, which we saw on the example of Croatia at the recent World Cup. I think we are on the right way, although nothing is ever sure in football; there are always many things which could be turned, but everything is fine so far.”

What can the BH national team do in the Nations League?

Everything is about a result, which is normal, and it was good in these friendly matches at least, as well as the game of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Now, what is most important is the qualifications, that is, the Nations League, and after, within the twelfth month, there will be a draw, when there will be a real thing we all expect, and that's a placement to the EURO. Through all these matches, I noticed that we have the quality that is the most important now, as well as the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina has good players, so a failure to enter the EURO would be very unsuccessful.

The Nations League is an interesting competition and I think it means more to smaller national teams that have more chances to qualify to the EURO. They will be good tests for us; I expect that we will play great games, tailor-made for us.”

Relationship with the players?

“I think I have a correct relationship. They accepted some of my things and ideas, such as, to have some order, to know what we want, to believe in ourselves. It should be so. It is not enough that only we believe that they are good players, but they should also start to believe in that.”

What are the impressions regarding the Federation and the working conditions?

“I do not know how many associations could boast of such a camp as BH has. We have excellent conditions there, but not only there, and this is the Federation that gives everything for the “A” national team in terms of preparations, hotels and travel conditions. I am satisfied and I would just add that we all have to work together to make a success. When we all want and work together for that, I’m sure that success will not fail.”
