The head coach Ivaylo Petev and midfielder Amer Gojak answered journalists’ questions.
“We are aware of how we played the match in Finland and that it was not our best edition. We had pressing for the first 20 minutes and then we made a problem for ourselves. The players who came off the bench in the second half brought in new energy. We made several opportunities and with a little luck we came to a goal and a positive result. There will probably be several changes tomorrow, we have another training tonight, so we will decide who will run on the pitch tomorrow”, Petev said.
When asked how much he knew about the Romanian national team, the head coach answered:
“I have been following the championship in Romania for a long time and I know 90% of the players, they have always had top players. Regardless of the result in Podgorica, Romania is still a good team. Every match is for itself and tomorrow everything can be different. When it comes to formation, I also think about both four and three players in the back line. We will adjust to what suits us best and we will do the match that way. We are ready for anything. It is important to be careful, both in the middle and in front of the pitch.”
Petev also added:
“We prepare every match in a special way. Everyone could see that the players were in a good mood, that a good result was important to them. I hope that tomorrow we will succeed and achieve it.”
Gojak pointed out that Romania did not play well in the first round against Montenegro:
“Everyone can have a bad day; they will try to surprise us. We did some analysis of their matches and we know what to expect. We also saw where we sinned against Finland, and tomorrow we will give our maximum on the pitch. I played against Cluj in the Dinamo jersey, I scored a goal, I know a lot of their players. I hope to play a good game tomorrow again; it doesn’t matter if I score a goal or not, the most important thing is that we all play well and win.”
After the press conference, the training of national team players began at the BH FF Training Centre.
