The first media activities were held at the Training Camp, and the journalists were addressed by coach Mehmed Janjoš and debutants in the “A” team Dal Varešanović and Adrian Leon Baršić.
Mehmed Janjoš commented on the absence of injured players Demirović and Krunić:
“They are certainly one of the leaders of the game and their absence will represent a handicap for our team. However, injuries are an integral part of sports, we must adapt to it and find adequate substitutes. I believe that we will succeed in this. I feel sorry for those two, because they have a great season behind them, and we have to move on and find the best solutions.”
Janjoš also referred to the next opponent:
“Objectively, Portugal is the favourite in this group, but it is sporting that we hope to get a good result. What kind of athletes would we be if we surrendered in advance! Of course, we will not behave like that and we are going there to show that we also know how to play football, and to do everything to achieve the best possible result. In addition, we must be ready for the match with Luxembourg, which awaits us later and which is very important to us.”
Dal Varešanović is happy about being invited up to the “A” team:
“Every player dreams of playing for his country. Those matches are what you live for. As for Portugal, I hope everything goes well for us. If I get a chance to play, I’ll be ready. I have shown so far that I know how to deal with pressure and it is not a problem for me.”
The young midfielder also added:
“My teammates accepted me in the best way. I know many of them from before and I am honoured to be there with our national team.”
Adrian Leon Barišić said:
“As a professional player, you dream all your life about matches like this one against Portugal that is ahead of us. If the head coach gives me an opportunity, I will definitely be ready to give my best. I made my debut for the U-18 team against Montenegro right here at the Training Centre. Later, I played for the U-19 and U-21 national teams. For me there was no dilemma, I belong here and I am happy about the invitation to the “A” national team.
