Edin Džeko has announced that he’ll wear the Bosnia and Herzegovina’s national “A” football team jersey for the last time on October 2, in the match against Sweden.

For almost two decades, Džeko has been one of the most important symbols of BiH football, one of the leaders of generations that secured Bosnia and Herzegovina’s qualification for two World Cups, and the captain alongside whom some of the finest moments in our national team’s history were created.

His goals, appearances, attitude toward the national jersey and immeasurable desire with which he always represented our country have left an indelible mark. However, Edin’s place in the history of Bosnian football isn’t defined solely by records and numbers, but also by the pride he brought to supporters throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and around the world for almost 20 years.

The match against Sweden will be an opportunity for all of us to express our gratitude to one of the greatest footballers our country has ever had, and give him the farewell he deserves – in front of packed stands and with the support of his loyal fans.

Captain, thank you for every appearance, every goal, every moment of joy and every moment of pride.
