Cup quarterfinals draw

The head coach and the captain expect a quality match

The official press conference of the “A”national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ahead of the EURO 2020 qualifying match with Italy, was held at the Bilino Polje in Zenica tonight.

Head coach Robert Prosinečki and captain Edin Džeko answered the journalists’ questions.

Prosinečki commented on the health condition and referred to tomorrow’s opponent:

“All the players who are here are healthy and can compete for tomorrow’s match. Hopefully, this will be the case after tonight’s training session too. Italy is the team that won everybody in the group and they sure have a lot of confidence. They have a lot of good young players. After past qualifications, they made a shift of generations and have a good team now. Regardless of the fact that they have already qualified for, we expect a tough match. We want to show that we can handle every team. We always play well in Zenica and hopefully it will be the same tomorrow.”

The head coach says about the results in this qualifying cycle:

“We had to do better in these qualifications. We were not as good as on the home pitch and that was our problem. It is important for us to play a good match tomorrow. In Italy, we played well, no matter we lost. Still, if we are at that level, we can hope for a good result. I’m sure that tomorrow’s match will be quality and interesting.”

Robert Prosinečki has also announced a squad that will be fielded tomorrow: Šehić, Kvržić, Kovačević, Bičakčić, Kolašinac, Bešić, Pjanić, Cimirot, Krunić, Višća and Džeko.

Edin Džeko points out that there are no unknowns between the national teams of B&H and Italy:

“We don’t expect any surprises in the game tomorrow. We all know each other well and played against each other many times. Italy is one big team that won all the matches in these qualifications and they sure want to continue that series. In this regard, they come motivated, but to us this match is very important for what comes next, which play-off matches in March. We will do our best to win Italy.”

The captain is also disappointed with the results so far:

“We are all disappointed with the results in these qualifications, because we have a national team that could have been second in this group. Unfortunately, we did not succeed in this and did not play at the level we can. Tomorrow we will have a match against the big national team, when we can regain our confidence. We will try to play a good match and win.”

After the press conference, the official training session of the BH team began.
