The head coach of the BH team, Dušan Bajević, stated:
"Every match for the national team is very important and essential, so this defeat is hard for us. The opponent had more desires. We made mistakes when returning the ball back and gave the opponent a few chances. We tried, but we didn’t create the right opportunity. In the first half, we didn't play so badly and we had a ball possession, but in the second half, we were worse than our opponents."
Iranian head coach Dragan Skočić also answered journalists' questions, saying, among other things:
"I am satisfied with the match; I think we could have solved it in the first half. We did a pretty good pressing and created a few chances. I can be happy with the first half. In the second, the match was a bit diluted due to a lot of changes, but I am generally satisfied with the match. Bosnia and Herzegovina has a quality team. I'm sorry they lost the play-off match, because it is definitely a better team than Northern Ireland."
