The head coach Faruk Hadžibegić and captain Edin Džeko addressed the representatives of the media.
The head coach commented on the health condition:
“Ahmedhodžič had tests this morning, the results are good, but he complained of pain, so we will see his condition at training. Barišić is also injured, but I believe that everything will be fine with him. The medical team did everything to make all the players ready for the match. I expect we will collectively feel better after a long journey. This national team has an excellent perspective with young players.”
Hadžibegić also answered the question about Luxembourg players who were expelled from the team, and commented on the opponent:
“I don’t look at who the opponent is missing on the pitch, because I’m missing a few first-team players. We know that we could not count on Krunić, Demirović and Hadžikadunić at this gathering. We are making a roster, so that we have substitutions and can reach the top. We try to make appropriate changes in every match in order to threaten the opponent. We still have seven matches ahead of us, six after tomorrow. We will try to create the most adequate team that will be a candidate for the second position in the group. Fear does not exist. We respect Luxembourg, but we are careful, because we are not complete.”
The BH team has so far been better than Luxembourg in all their matches, when asked if it will be the same tomorrow, Džeko answered:
“The performance so far against Luxembourg means nothing to us, every match is different. A few months ago, we talked about the fact that this is not the Luxembourg of ten years ago, and they showed it with the latest results. A difficult match awaits us, but we are ready. An important match awaits us in which we must win and take three new points. Everything is still open.”
Džeko also added:
“When you look at our schedule, we played three matches against the three best opponents in the group, we expected at least a point more, which would have taken two away from Slovakia. We should also pay attention to the fact that we were missing a couple of important players. Surely this tomorrow’s match is crucial. The last qualifiers were good for young players, to enter the team and gain experience playing for the national team. They are expected to be the bearers of the game soon. In recent years, we have received a lot of young players who can be important for the future, especially in positions where we were lacking. It’s up to us, the more experienced ones, to help them, but everyone needs to show quality on the pitch. We appreciate and respect the opponent, but we play in front of our fans and we have to show what is expected of us.”
The Dragons will have an official training session tonight at the BH FF TC in Zenica before tomorrow’s match.
