Meeting With Fifa Representatives On VAR Technology Implementation

Training workshops for referees and assistant referees of the BiH WWIN League were held in Ilidža, focusing on the use of VAR technology in our premier league competition, which will be implemented from the next competitive season.

In addition, a “kick-off meeting” began today at the FFBiH headquarters in Sarajevo with FIFA representatives responsible for the introduction of VAR technology into the football association's competition systems under the guidance of the world football association.

FIFA representatives at this meeting were Michael Bailey from the Referees and Refereeing department, who is also FIFA’s Technology & Innovation Manager. Alongside him was Bhaveshan Moorghen, who is in charge of implementing and controlling the introduction of VAR/AVAR technologies into our competition system.

FFBiH General secretary Adnan Džemidžić commented on this event: "Today is a very significant day for us as we have initiated the 'kick-off meeting' with FIFA experts for the introduction of VAR technology into our competitions. This is a crucial step in planning and coordinating all activities that will lead us to the complete realization and final implementation of VAR technology in our country. FIFA representatives will provide us with guidelines on all technical aspects, referee education, and procedural steps that await us in the future. We're grateful to FIFA for their great support in this important segment of improving the Federation's work, raising the level of refereeing quality in our premier league."

Džemidžić is also pleased with the progress in the implementation of this project: "It's a great pleasure to see the progress being made through the workshops and advanced training for the implementation of VAR technology in our elite competition system. All of this represents a significant step forward for BiH football, which evidently confirms our commitment to improving the quality of organization of regular competitions. All participants show a high level of professionalism and enthusiasm, which really convinces us that we'll be ready for the successful VAR implementation in the next competitive season. This is not just a technical progress but also a step that will bring benefits not only to referees, players, and clubs but also to all fans and football enthusiasts in our country."

VAR project manager Ognjen Valjić and the chief VMO (VAR match official) instructor Elmir Pilav, along with their associates, will represent the FFBiH at this workshop.
