The conference was part of UEFA Grassroots Week and brought together many former and current female players, referees, coaches and trainers to discuss the development of women’s football, challenges and opportunities for girls starting their sporting journey.
The first panel featured former and current national team players - Ivana Vlaić, Anja Stević, Milica Denda and Elma Husić - who shared their experiences and offered words of encouragement to younger generations.
The second panel focused on the role of women in refereeing, with Merima Tanović, Petra Obradović, Ilma Durmo and Šejla Selimović speaking about the challenges and opportunities in this segment of the game.
The third panel brought together coaches and trainers - Alisa Spahić (SFK Sarajevo 2000), Zijo Tojaga (ŽF/NK Emina), Jelena Milović (ŽFK Leotar), Selma Memović (ŽFK Respect) and Fatima Pezić (ŽF/NK Emina/SA Mali Most) - who discussed the development of women’s football from the youngest age groups, the importance of education and continuous support.
After the conference, a U-13 girls’ tournament was held featuring ŽF/NK Emina, SA Mali Most, SA Dubrave, ŽNK Široki Brijeg and ŽFK Leotar clubs. The crowd enjoyed matches full of enthusiasm and fighting spirit, and the tournament concluded with awards and recognitions for the most successful teams and individuals.
Organizers emphasized that the goal of the event was to raise awareness about the importance of developing women’s football, strengthen unity and encourage girls to take up sport.
FFBiH continues to mark UEFA Grassroots Week with events across Bosnia and Herzegovina: in Teslić, Posušje, Cazin, Prijedor, Fojnica, Tuzla, East Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Trebinje and Gradiška. The grassroots philosophy implies football for all, regardless of gender, race, physical ability, religion or nationality.
