By the will of the draw, BIH's team has been placed in World Cup group F with Argentina, Nigeria and Iran. Safet Susic's players will play their first match on the famous Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, and two other on Pantanal and Fonte Nova stadiums.
Estadio de Maracana – Rio de Janeiro
Maracana is built in 1950. When Brazil was announced host for the World Cup, it was clear that stadium will be undergoing significant changes. The works began in 2010. and the stadium was re-opened on June 2nd 2013 for the friendly match between Brazil and England.
With 73.531 seats, it's the biggest stadium in Brazil. Besides the final match on July 13th, six more matches will be played on Maracana.
Bosnia and Herzegovina will play on this stadium on June 15th at 19:00 hours agaist Argentina.
Arena Pantanal – Cuiaba
Arena Pantanal was built specifically for the 2014 World Cup. The construction works started at the end of 2010, and it still aren't complete, even though the deadline was end of 2013. It's expected to be finished in February 2014.
The capacity should be 42.968, but 15.000 seats will be removed after the World Cup which will be accomplished by removing upper parts of the stadium on both ends.
At the Arena Pantanal, four of the first round matches will played, and after Mundial ends, local clubs Mixto and Operario will be able to use it.
Our team will play a match agaist Nigeria on June 21th at 18:00 hours at this stadium.
Arena Fonte Nova – Salvador
Arena Fonte Nova is built in 1951. but it has been fully restored for 2014 World Cup. One side of the stadium has been left open because of the view at the nearby lake.
This stadium can accomodate 52.048 people, and will host six matches, including one at the 1/8th, and one at the 1/4 finals.
Our team will play at the Fonte Nova stadium against Iran, on June 25th at 13:00 hours.
