The meeting was attended by Federation of BiH Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, FFBiH president and vice presidents Vico Zeljković, Ivan Beus, and Irfan Durić, general secretary Adnan Džemidžić, as well as representatives of clubs Željezničar, Sarajevo, Zrinjski, Velež, Posušje, Široki Brijeg, Čelik, Travnik, and Sloboda.
During the meeting, participants discussed current challenges in the legal and financial framework of professional sports, with particular emphasis on the status of professional football players and the need to align existing legal solutions with specifics of modern sport.
FFBiH representatives pointed out the importance of introducing a model of professional play through independent sports activity, which would provide greater legal security, reduce financial burdens on clubs, and align with UEFA and FIFA standards. This model, already applied in some European countries, represents a significant step toward stabilizing and developing the football system in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was also emphasized that such a solution would contribute to a more efficient club licensing process, reduction in disputes, and overall improvement in competition organization.
It was concluded that joint action by all relevant institutions is necessary to adopt an adequate legal framework that’ll enable modernization of the sports system and long-term development of football in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
