FFBiH General Assembly Held

The regular session of the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FFBiH) General Assembly was held today at the hotel “Hills”, Ilidža.

FFBiH president Vico Zeljković welcomed attendees, thanked FIFA and UEFA representatives for their support through the FIFA Forward and UEFA Hat-Trick programs, and emphasized the collective effort in developing and promoting football.

He said: "Today's session of the General Assembly is where we show the results of our work last year and discuss upcoming activities. I want to highlight the unity of all FFBiH departments working in the interest of football in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our primary task is to create an environment for the development of young players, and promote true values football has to offer. The principles promoted by FFBiH are unity, pride, equality, social inclusion, and our idea of that is outlined in the document titled 'FFBiH Development Strategy 2022-2026'."

Zeljković added: "Together, we're walking the road of prosperity for a better future of BiH football. FFBiH has a clear path marked towards FIFA and UEFA as strategic partners, who also recognize us as a major point on the European and global football map. A whole new strategy for the development of women's football is being developed, providing an important foundation for the progress of this important segment."

He also addressed infrastructure projects: "Improving stadium infrastructures is a persistent challenge, even for much larger associations than ours. What was once untouchable and distant for us, with the determined support of FIFA and UEFA, is now becoming our reality. Bosnia and Herzegovina now has some of the most modern pitches in club championships: Borac, Velež, Sarajevo, Sloboda, and Tuzla City. This approach has made high-level matches for all club selections possible. Two hybrid surface fields at the stadiums in Široki Brijeg and Doboj are also nearing completion."

About the national teams' performances, Zeljković said: "Our national teams have represented BiH all over Europe and the world. The women's "A" team made a big step forward in the UEFA Nations League by promoting a whole generation of young players. They fell short by 'one step', unable to pass Sweden in the playoffs, who has one of the top five women's teams in the world. The men's "A" team played in the playoff semi-finals for the 2024 UEFA European Championship in Germany against Ukraine. Unfortunately, we didn't achieve our goal and qualify for Euro 2024. The rejuvenation of our senior team started after said playoffs and will continue gradually through the UEFA Nations League. Our excellent organization of the UEFA Women's under-17 European Championship didn't go unnoticed, leading to a favorable 'stamp' on our application to host the women's Euro in BiH in 2026."

Zeljković further added: "The FFBiH Executive Board has worked continuously over the past year to make important decisions essential for the ongoing work of the Federation at all levels, from entity associations to cantonal/municipal associations, and of course clubs as the backbone of football in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Today, we present you with the 2023 Work Reports and 2024 Work Plans. The data transparently and accurately reflect FFBiH's operations over the past year and include our plans for the coming year. I wish you all good health, new sports successes, and happiness in life, both professionally and personally!"

The session was attended by FIFA's Head of Member Associations (MA) Governance Rolf Tanner and UEFA National Associations Advisor Joseph Clement, both expressing FIFA and UEFA's continuous support for the Federation's work and will continue to invest in football development in Bosnia and Herzegovina via various football projects. They also congratulated president Zeljković and the Executive Board members on completing multiple infrastructure projects in the previous year.

Following the election of working bodies, the Election Committee confirmed the presence of 59 delegates, establishing the necessary quorum for work and decision-making.

After the presentations, the Assembly delegates adopted:
