Following the game against the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina's elimination from the World Cup, head coach Sergej Barbarez spoke with great emotion: "When you lose, you always feel like something was missing. We had the match completely under control, and then we conceded after our own mistake. In the second half we tried everything, and these guys truly deserve every bit of praise for what they showed on the field. The expression on my face shows how happy I am, even though today is a sad day. It's hard to recreate the stories from Wales and Italy in Zenica. We had several good situations, and in the end you concede from a free kick. That's sports. I love all these people who support us, all of Bosnia and Herzegovina."
Captain Edin Džeko left the match early due to injury: "We gave everything we had, but unfortunately we're going home. We should be proud of what we've achieved. We shouldn't have conceded the second goal because it made it much harder to get back into the game. After the red card we were on top, but that goal knocked us down and we couldn't come back. Thanks to the fans for everything and for following us throughout the tournament. I hope they enjoyed it and that they're as proud of us as we are of them."
