The best athlete in our country for 2020 is the BH football national team player, Miralem Pjanić.
Pjanic played 98 games for the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina and scored 15 goals.
He is currently a member of Barcelona, and in his career, he has also played for Metz, Olympique Lyon, Roma and Juventus.
“Thank you all for the Athlete of the Year award, of course I’m very glad I got it. I thank all those who chose, as well as the national team and the club. It was a very successful season with Juventus, and moving to Barcelona is certainly the crown of my career and something phenomenal. I hope there will be a lot of success in the future. This will be another motive to work better and be an example to our children in B&H, so that one day they will be in the national team and the biggest clubs in the world. This award will have a special place in my house”, said Pjanić.
In addition to Pjanić, basketball player Jusuf Nurkić and handball player Benjamin Burić competed for the best athlete.
Former head coach of the U-17 national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sakib Malkočević, who passed away this year, was posthumously awarded a lifetime achievement award. As a headcoach of the BH cadets, Malkočević achieved a qualification for the European Championship three times in a row.
The best female athlete in B&H this year is basketball player Marica Gajić, while the women’s basketball national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina was named the best team.
