First place for Lokomotiva in the tournament in Brčko

Prosinečki and Marinović announced the names of the players for the upcoming matches

Press conference at which the head coaches of the “A” national team, Robert Prosinečki, and the U-21 team, Vinko Marinović, announced the names of the players for the upcoming matches, was held at the FF BH premises in Sarajevo today.

The senior team will play away with Finland and Italy in qualifications for the Euro 2020, while the opponents of the U-21 team in a friendly match will be the team of Malta.

Robert Prosinečki announced the names of the players and said:

“We have some problems, because a few players got injuries in the last round. We invited 24 players and we will see, depending on the injuries, whether there will be some new names. We appealed on the decision regarding the suspension of Miralem Pjanić and if it is reduced to one match, then we will also have him on the list.”

When asked if the team would adapt to some other system, since several players were missing, Prosinečki replied:

“Since I came to the position of the national team head coach, I have been a great optimist. In this regard let the Finns adjust to us. The players are in good shape and play motivated in the national team, with great desire. Pjanić will not play against Finland, but somebody else will want, and we will try to score with the players we have. We will be together for seven days until Finland, which is enough time to prepare. What is extremely important is that we have a great atmosphere in the team.”

Prosinečki added:

“This is an awkward term, because it comes in a time of year when football players already thinking where to go on vacation. However, it is good that we play the second game with Italy so everyone will be motivated and focused on the matches. Both games are important to us, but we are first thinking about Finland. It’s an inconvenient team, because Scandinavians play football different than us. We expect a difficult match, but I believe that we have the answer to that, we are a better team and I hope to win. Italy is a favourite, because it is a football nation that was not present at the last World Cup. I do not think that we will fail here, but I think we will play a great game.”

Vinko Marinović stated:

“We want to give the opportunity to all players. We were not able to invite them anymore, because we can take 18 players to Malta. Mujakić, Demirović and Ćavar have been checked. They had a good season and we did not invite them now, because we want to see other players. By September we will have more checks and we will use this match to see who we can count on.”
