At the Seoul airport, our best players were welcomed by a large number of domestic fans who took the opportunity to take pictures and get autographs from the BH national team’s players. Special attention was attracted by Edin Džeko and Miralem Pjanić.
A match with South Korea will be played on 1st June at 13:00 h Central European time, at the “Jeonju World Cup” Stadium which can accommodate 42,477 spectators.
The stadium was built for the needs of the FIFA World Cup, held in Japan and South Korea in 2002, and three Mundial matches were played at it. At the “Jeonju World Cup” stadium on 5th November 2011, the final match of the Asian Champions League was played, in which Qatar Al Sad won the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors after better penalty kicks.
South Korea and Bosnia and Herzegovina played only once. The first match of these teams was played in Seoul on 26th May 2006, when the home team won 2:0. The goals on that match were scored by Ki-hyeon Seol in the 50th and Jae-jin Cho in the 90th minute.
The national team of South Korea is currently ranked 61st in the FIFA ranking list with 520 points. Their best ranking in history was 17th place in December 1998, while their lowest ranking last from November 2014 to January 2015 (69th place).
This year in Russia, South Korea will take part in the World Cup for the tenth time and their debut was in Switzerland in 1954. They achieved the best result in Mundial in 2002, when they won the fourth place.
They participated at the Asian Cup 13 times, and they were winners twice - in Hong Kong in 1956, and in 1960, when they were hosts.
Cha Bum-kun collected the highest number of caps for the national team (138). He is also the best goal scorer of South Korea of all time with 59 goals, and he played for the national team from 1972 to 1986.
