The FFBiH Referees and Refereeing Committee held a meeting today, where they reviewed referee observers' reports and analyzed refereeing decisions in the 9th round of the Wwin League BiH. The following was determined:
NK Široki Brijeg vs. FK Sarajevo
- 7’ : The referee, after VAR intervention, awarded a penalty to the home team because a defender pushed the attacker. This decision was both correct in terms of VAR intervention and the on-field decision.
- 42’ : The referee awarded a penalty to the away team for pulling the attacker’s shirt.
- The Committee considers both penalties borderline fouls, but they support the referee’s consistent criteria in making these decisions.
- 70’ : After the away team scored, the referee, following a VAR review, disallowed the goal and awarded a free kick to the home team. The Committee determined that this was an incorrect VAR intervention and ultimately a wrong referee decision.
- The referee is sanctioned with a two-cycle suspension in line with the Referee and Refereeing Regulations.
FK Željezničar vs. HŠK Posušje
- 69’ : The referee, after VAR intervention, did not award a penalty to the away team. The Committee believes that the defender’s hand was in an unnatural position when the ball made contact. While the VAR intervention was correct, the on-field referee’s decision was wrong.
- 93’ : The referee correctly did not award a penalty to the away team. In this case, the defender cleared the ball outside the box, and it accidentally struck his teammate’s hand. Since the hand was in a natural position and there was no intent to handle the ball (given the high speed at which it struck him), it was not a punishable handball.
