BH AND MACEDONIA FINALISTS OF THE MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT

The semi-final matches of the 8th Sixth-April Memorial Tournament “Josip Katalinski-Škija” were played at the Asim Ferhatović-Hase Stadium in Sarajevo today.

The U-15 teams of BH and Macedonia were qualified to the finals. Bosnia and Herzegovina won the selected team of the City of Belgrade with 2:1, while the Macedonians were better than the joint selection of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo after the penalty kicks.

The delegation of the participants of the Memorial Tournament “Josip Katalinski-Škija”, before the semi-final matches, visited today in Sarajevo a grave of the legendary football player and laid flowers.

Adnan Džemidžić, the general secretary of the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, made a speech, and besides the representatives of FF BH, the Football Federation of Sarajevo Canton, the Football Federation of Macedonia and the Football Association of Belgrade, Jasna Katalinski, the wife of the deceased Škija, was also present.

In the match of the pioneer teams of BH and Belgrade, the Belgradians had the first chance in the 8th minute, when the shot of Lazar Miladinović from the right side was thrown to the corner by a goalkeeper Sergej Bjelica.

Ten minutes later, BH came to the advantage. The BH defensive players sent the ball toward the opponent’s penalty area, where the striker Marko Babić was best placed and sent it into the net of the Belgradians.

A similar situation was seen in the 26th minute, but this time, after a kick of Babić, the defenders of Belgrade managed to kick the ball into the corner.

The captain of the BH team, Aldin Mešić, tried from about 25 meters in the 30th minute, but the ball past the goal. Babić hit the post-goal from the edge of the penalty area in the 37th minute.

In the 46th minute, a defender of the guests Ognjen Stojković made a foul over Alem Japaur in the penalty area and a penalty kick for BH was awarded. A confident performer of the penalty kick was Anes Krdžalić for 2:0.

Babić once again tried well from the right side in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper Nikola Čurkanović stopped his shot. Mešić sent the ball beside the goal from 16 meters in the 54th minute.

The Belgradians decreased the BH advantage by a goal of Luke Nenadović from the penalty kick in the 56th minute.

In 71st minute, a corner kick for Bosnia and Herzegovina was performed by Krdžalić, and Din Gosto sent the ball by head above the goal from the five-meter area, so that was the last opportunity in the match.

The head coach of the team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zoran Erbez, said after the end of the match: “Every victory is precious and a placement to the finals of this tournament means a lot to us. The guys showed a lot of desire and commitment and the product of such game is this victory. We saw in this match some good things of our team, but also several mistakes that we should correct. I hope that the players will show a good game tomorrow and win the first place in the tournament.”

In the second semi-final match between Macedonia and the selected team of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo, both teams created several good opportunities, but in the regular 80 minutes there were no goals. Then they started with the penalty kicks, when Mihail Talevski, Džezair Abduli and Matej Gjorgiev scored for Macedonia, while only Mustafa Numanović was precise from the white point for Sarajevo and East Sarajevo.

The placement matches will be played at the “Grbavica” tomorrow. At 11:00 h, in the match for the 3rd place, Sarajevo and East Sarajevo will play versus Belgrade, and the final match between BH and Macedonia is scheduled at 14:00 h.
