The early part of the game was mostly played in midfield without significant chances. France had the first serious opportunity in the 20th minute when Ekitike’s shot from five meters lacked precision, allowing Damjanović to make a save. Five minutes later, Sildillia shot from the edge of the box, but the ball went over. Our team responded in the next attack, but Mustafić didn’t make the best header on a cross. In the 30th minute, the same player tried a long-range shot, but it went over the bar. Three minutes later, France was awarded a penalty after Čelik fouled Ekitike. He took the penalty, but Damjanović made a great save. However, France took the lead in the 35th minute via Aliouche for 1:0, also the halftime score.
The second half began with another penalty for France. In the 55th minute, Čelik once again fouled Ekitike, who converted this time for a 2:0 lead. Our team created two good chances afterward. In the 63rd minute, Bristrić got past his marker on a long ball, but his shot was saved by the French goalkeeper. Three minutes later, Kahvić headed the ball after a corner but missed the target. In the 72nd minute, Akliouche made another dangerous shot, but Damjanović, who was brilliant tonight, saved it again. There were no major chances until the end of the match, and the score remained unchanged.
Coach Vinko Marinović commented after the game: "Our goal for the remainder of these qualifiers is to build a team for the next cycle. This group has a lot of talented players, even those born in 2006 and 2007, which makes me particularly happy because we’ve built a solid foundation for the future. As for the game, I want to congratulate the players on their effort, discipline, and professionalism. Tactically, we played very well, successfully negating the opponent's strengths. Offensively, we created three good chances but didn’t capitalize upon them. I’m satisfied given the youth of our team; this is important experience, and we all share the same appetite - to develop top quality footballers."
