I always have a motive to give the most for the national team

Kenan Kodro arrived at the representative gathering for the June matches within the Nations League in a good mood, satisfied with the season behind him and his status at the club.

“It turned out that I made the right decision when I chose to come to MOL Fehervar”, begins Kodro's interview for the official website of the Federation.

“I am very pleased, because it was a very good season. At the beginning, I was hesitant, I needed to change the country, the mentality of the people is different, the culture as well, considering that I was born and raised in Spain. But, since my football career did not go in the direction I wanted, I decided to come to Hungary and it was a really good decision. I am happy about that, I fit in great and I was well received at the club. Most importantly, in terms of football, I came back to life. That did not go unnoticed, so I am in the national team again, and that is without a doubt the crown of the season.”

How much is the fact that several BH national team players play in Hungary helped you adjust to the new environment?

“It is true that we are not in the same club, but their experiences are valuable to me, and in general, there are a lot of players from this area in Hungary. We have three or four players from the Balkans in the team, which helped me to adapt faster, and I emphasize again that I was well received in the club, the environment suits me and that resulted in my good games. The Hungarian language is the only difficult thing for me and although I would like to learn it, for now I can only say thank you.”

In a few days, the competition in the Nations League will begin, how do you see the national team’s obligations and what is to follow for you and your teammates in the coming period?

“We are all looking forward to coming to the national team. It is a confirmation that we play well in our clubs, and that every effort and serious work pays off in the end. There are a lot of new younger players, which is normal. I think that, for the progress of the national team, it is a good mix of older, more experienced and younger players. What can be seen from the relationship yesterday, towards training sessions, but also in socializing, these are good guys, everyone wants to work and prove himself. We also need a little luck, but in combination with good work, I believe that this team can do a lot in the future.”

What motivates you and how do you personally prepare for the matches?

“I always have a motive to play for the national team. No matter how hard the season was, I arrived refreshed and in a good mood. I am convinced that as a team we will function well on the pitch, because we are serious about our obligations, we have quality and I know that we can do something. Personally, I always think that I will play and that is how I mentally prepare for every match. Of course, the head coach is the one who decides on that, but I think that our individual self-confidence is also important, and I am definitely in a good shape.”
