Mehić is proud to play for the national selection:
“I’m happy to have an opportunity to play for my country. I was proud when I debuted in the qualifications, when I scored the first goal against Denmark, which was very important for us. Now we are at the European Championship, which is truly an amazing success. Unfortunately, last night we were not on a satisfactory level against Belgium, but nothing is lost yet. I believe we can beat Ireland and qualify to the quarter-finals.”
Mehić expects to place among the top eight teams on the EURO:
“The Belgians showed they were better than us, but I do not think we earned such a convincing defeat. We also had our opportunities, and I’m sorry we did not use at least one. We need to forget this match as soon as possible and turn to the next opponent. The Republic of Ireland has a quality; it will not be an easy match. Qualification to the next stage would mean a lot to and we will do our best to achieve it.”
