In the first half, the visitors had more possession, taking the initiative on the field. Austria had their first chance in the 6th minute when Veratschnig's header from five meters went off target. Bosnia and Herzegovina had a great chance in the 18th minute when Kahvić's precise header set up Ibrišimović, but his shot went over the bar. Austria threatened twice more before halftime, with Seidl heading from a deep ball in the 23rd minute and firing a strong shot from distance two minutes later, both saved by Damjanović. The first half ended without goals.
Austria took the lead in the second half. In the 56th minute, Seidl scored on an assist from Adewumi. Seidl struck again in the 77th minute, taking advantage of our team’s defensive lapse and scoring from a throw-in, securing Austria’s 0:2 victory.
Head coach Vinko Marinović commented after the game: "First, I want to congratulate Austria on their deserved win. We had our chances, but we couldn't capitalize on our efforts. The boys tried their best to execute our plans, but we must remember we had little time to prepare. We also gave many young players a chance today, which was one of our main goals - to prepare them for the next qualification cycle. The result is always important, but given our time constraints, I’m satisfied with what the team showed tonight."
National team member Aleksandar Kahvić also reflected on the match: "We gave our best, even though we have a young team. We had a few good opportunities, but we have to admit we played against a very tough opponent. Regardless of the outcome, it's important that we showed fighting spirit and kept pushing until the end. This match brought us valuable experience for future challenges."
