Head Coach and Players United: Effort Will Be There

Media activities were held today at the FFBiH Training Center in Zenica as Bosnia and Herzegovina's women's national "A" football team gathered ahead of their two UEFA Nations League matches against Poland.

Head Coach Selver Hodžić, alongside players Melisa Hasanbegović and Aida Hadžić, spoke to the press.

Hodžić commented on the start of preparations and addressed the team's injury concerns: "We gathered yesterday and had two solid training sessions. The players are motivated and showed great effort and desire on the pitch, especially those returning to the team, who are eager to prove themselves. However, we do have some injury concerns—Milena Nikolić got hurt, so we won’t be able to count on her. Andrea Čule is also dealing with an injury, but I believe she’ll be ready in time for the match. Additionally, we're missing Emina Ekić, Ena Šabanagić, Maja Hrelja, and Marija Aleksić, who've been sidelined for a while now."

He also spoke about the upcoming opponent "Poland's team has been together for a long time. We know what they’re capable of, but they know us just as well. In the end, it'll come down to determination, willpower, and fight. I'm sure our players will give their best in both games, that we'll be the more assertive team, and we’re hoping for the best."

Melisa Hasanbegović added: "A tough and demanding match awaits us. Poland is a strong team—we’ve analyzed them and we're aware of their qualities. Although we only got together yesterday, we’ve already discussed our approach and know exactly what needs to be done. The team is in good shape, the energy is great, and we’ll give everything we’ve got. It should be a high-quality match."

Aida Hadžić addressed questions about Poland and the team's previous match against Northern Ireland, which Bosnia and Herzegovina lost after a late comeback: "Poland is a strong team, but we'll fight, and our effort won’t be lacking. As for the last game, that's just football—sometimes you have more luck, sometimes less. We played well but lost in the final moments. However, we've learned from that game, and I believe we’ll do better against Poland. This team has a lot of young players, and matches like these provide invaluable experience for them."

With Milena Nikolić ruled out against Poland, SFK 2000 Sarajevo’s Ajla Zukić has received a late call-up to the "A" team. The team will travel to Gdańsk tomorrow, where the first match against Poland will take place in three days.
