For the first time, Euro qualifiers will be played under a new system, similar to the Nations League. A total of 51 teams will participate in Leagues A, B, and C, divided into groups.
Only the top two teams from each group in League A, plus host Switzerland, will directly qualify for the final tournament. The remaining seven spots at the Euro will be contested through two playoff phases. The first will see third and fourth-placed teams from League A groups meet the top five and three best second-placed teams from League C groups. Also, in the first playoff phase, top teams and the two best second-placed teams from League B groups will face the two weaker second and third-placed teams from League B groups. Winners of the first playoff phase will advance to the second phase, where seven more teams will qualify for the Euro.
Qualifiers begin in April and conclude in July. The playoff draw is set for July 19th. The first playoff phase will be played at the end of October and will finish in late November and early December. Performance in the qualifiers will also determine the schedule for the next Nations League season.
The Women’s European Championship will take place in Switzerland from July 2 to 27, 2025.
