The young Dragonesses held their first training session at Police stadium also yesterday. However, head coach Jelena Milović and her staff could not count on all players because the event happened outside the official FIFA window.
Coach Milović: "We’re missing about ten players from our strongest lineup, including 6-7 regulars. Many had important matches with their clubs. This might be our last test before the qualifiers at the end of November and early December, so it’s an opportunity for those who are here to secure their spot on the team. Some of them came here for the first time. Poland is a very strong opponent; they were European champions in the past, so it’s definitely a great test for us."
Ilija Lucić, a member of the national “A” team coaching staff and former WU-17 coach, is also attending the preparations.
"Mr. Lucić was the under-17 coach when I was working with that team for many years. I’m thrilled he’s here and he’ll help us with his advice to navigate the challenges that await us," said Milović.
Bosnia and Herzegovina will host the Group B3 qualification tournament, which also includes Wales, Lithuania, and Georgia, scheduled from November 26 to December 3.
"As for the Division B tournament, we could’ve had an easier draw. Still, BiH will host the 2026 European Championship, so I’m glad we’ll have stronger tests ahead of what’s to come in that competition."
Our team will play two games against Poland at Police stadium in Trebinje. The first is scheduled for Saturday at 4:00 PM, and the second on Tuesday at 10:00 AM.
