Besides their daily training sessions, the players are using their time in Zenica for community engagement.
Today they visited the “Dom-porodica” public institution, home to children without parental care, where they were welcomed by director Halil Arnaut and Maja Paškalj.
Coach Goran Melher, assistant coach Perica Trifković, captain Srđan Ivanković, players Davor Arnautović, Josip Bošković, Amer Delić, Faruk Brkanić, team manager Josip Radišić, and FFBiH TC director Sanja Kovač spent time with the children and staff.
The center currently houses 82 children of various ages, and the players’ wish was to bring them joy and friendship today.
Director Halil Arnaut said: “This was a truly lovely visit. The kids were absolutely thrilled - not just because of the gifts but because they got to meet our national team players. I thank the coaching staff and players from the bottom of my heart, and we’ll all return the favor on Tuesday by attending the match to support them.”
Coach Melher takes care not only of how his team will play but also what kind of message he can send off the court: “As much as the game matters, we also care deeply about reminding the public that children are the most vulnerable members of society, and it’s essential to keep improving conditions and means for their protection. This visit was very meaningful and inspiring for us. It’s our duty, as adults and as a society, to create an environment where children have the right and opportunity to play sports and grow in all aspects of life.”
