After a convincing 7:0 win last night, Goran Melher’s team secured another solid victory, this time with a 5:1 scoreline.
After just 20 minutes of play, the futsal Dragons had a three-goal lead. Faruk Brkanić scored in the 7th minute, followed by Bilal Jelić in the 11th and 13th minutes. Azerbaijan reduced the lead in the 25th minute via Oktay Rustamli. However, Josip Bošković (29') and Faruk Brkanić (35') sealed the final score of the match.
Coach Melher said this after the game: "Every game we’ve played since I took over as head coach has been valuable in its own way, including these two. I think we went in seriously from the very first minute in both matches, showing the progress we’ve made during this period. Let’s not forget we were up against the world’s 16th-ranked team and achieved comfortable wins."
Melher also looked ahead to the upcoming qualifiers: “We have around 18 to 20 candidates for the first qualifying cycle and the matches against England and Spain. Our first game is next month at home in Zenica against England, and I hope we’ll bring this same approach into the qualifiers.”
