Our national team was defeated by, according to the profession, the main favourite of the tournament of the Spanish national team, and after the match, the head coach Ivo Krezo said:
“I congratulate the Spanish team on the deserved victory, but also my players on their efforts. We tried to prevent their pass-game with a defensive game and to try to do something forward with counterattacks. At some points we even held the ball in possession which was a good thing, but Spain showed quality and deservedly won. We are sorry that we conceded some goals easily.”
Krezo also referred to the following opponents:
“Our goal is to continue to qualify for the quarterfinals and we will do our best in the next two matches to achieve that. Georgia and Azerbaijan showed quality today. We turn to the next opponent. The Georgians showed a lot of desire today and were very motivated. We will prepare well for that match and I hope to achieve a good result.”
Captain Anel Radmilović said:
“We knew that a difficult match awaited us. I think that Spain is the best team in the world and we respect them a lot, but our goal was to play the best match possible. It can be said that we gave them goals as gift and they are the team that punishes every mistake. However, in general, we can be satisfied with our game. Now we are going to prepare as best we can for Georgia.”
Goalkeeper Andrijano Dujmović also commented on the match:
“This was a very difficult match for us. The Spaniards held the ball, but they are one of the best teams in the world and we knew what pace they would keep and how much they would press. We played the match correctly and we can be satisfied. We will continue to look for our chances to pass against Georgia and Azerbaijan.”
On the eve of the match and in the VIP box of the Martini Plaza in Groningen, the delegations of the BH FF and the Spanish FA exchanged gifts. Our Federation was represented by members of the Executive Board, Milorad O. Lale and Muris Jabandžić, and the executive director of the Sports Sector Elmir Pilav.
