Gosto: Our Focus is on Securing 6 Points

The Bosnia and Herzegovina national "A" futsal team will gather on Sunday afternoon in Sarajevo, ahead of crucial UEFA Euro 2026 qualifiers.

As previously announced, two key matches await our team - first against Switzerland on March 6, then against England on March 11. Samir Gosto, a regular member of the national team and currently the top scorer in the Premier Futsal League, is among those who had the chance to compete at the 2022 European Championship in the Netherlands.

He shared his thoughts and expectations regarding the upcoming games, his current form, and the top teams in the domestic competition:
"We're heading into the most important cycle in these qualifiers, where only 6 points from these two matches matter to us. With a total of 12 points, we'd secure a spot in the playoffs before the final round. I’m in excellent goal-scoring form, and I hope to carry my club performances into the national team."

Last weekend’s Premier Futsal League Round 15 derby between Bubamara and Mostar SG was a thrilling match. Both teams are significantly ahead of the rest in points. How do you see that?
"Honestly, in terms of player quality, these are the two best teams in the league, as confirmed by the standings. I think their better financial situation contributes to the stability and organization of these clubs, allowing them to bring in new players more easily. SG Staklorad is one of our most decorated clubs, while Bubamara has had truly impressive results this season. We’re in great form and want to win the title."

Do you have any other goals?
"I truly believe that this amazing group of guys, together with the coaching staff, will qualify for the upcoming European Championship. That would be fantastic - not just for me personally and for all the players, but also for the further popularization of futsal. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our fans who genuinely love Bosnia and Herzegovina. Qualifying would be a great gift for all of them."

According to the preparation plan, the BiH national futsal team will have two training sessions on Monday (10:30 and 18:30) at Hotel Hills in Ilidža, where they will be staying. The team will depart for Winterthur on Tuesday, where they will face Switzerland on March 6 at 20:00.
