After the match, the head coach Ivo Krezo said:
“I congratulate Georgia on the victory, but I also congratulate my players on their efforts and commitment. We opened the match well, gained an advantage and created several opportunities to score another goal. We didn’t use them and after one mistake we received a goal and the opponent got up after that. They soon scored another goal. We tried to get back into the game with a 5-on-4 game, but we didn’t use our chances.”
Krezo added:
“We will do our best in the next two days to prepare as well as possible for the last match and to achieve the first victory at the European Championship. It would be a great honour for us to win points in the big competition and we will do our best to achieve a positive result against Azerbaijan.”
Davor Arnautović was also disappointed with the defeat:
“It remains a pity for the lost points. In the first half, we complied with everything we agreed on in the dressing room. We played well until the received goal. We did our best to equalize the result by the end of the match, but we did not succeed. Next is the match with Azerbaijan, in which we want to achieve victory for our fans and for the whole nation. We have received many messages of support in the past and we want to thank everyone for that.”
Goalkeeper Darko Milanović said:
“We are very sad about the results. We had the advantage we created opportunities and controlled the match. However, it should not have happened to us to actually give a goal as a gift to the opponent. We are disappointed, because we had a great chance to get closer to the quarterfinals. We were very close and one mistake broke the match. We lived for this competition and now we have to do our best in the last round and win points against Azerbaijan.”
On the eve of the match, representatives of the BH FF and the Football Association of Georgia exchanged gifts.
