After the match, head coach Ivo Krezo stated:
“I congratulate the Armenian team for the victory, but also our boys for fighting. They gave as much as they could at the moment. It’s a shame that it didn’t end in at least a draw, that might have been the most realistic result. We didn’t take our opportunities, with the score 2:0 we missed a hundred percent chance, so the match would have gone in a different direction if we had used it. The opponent was ready and well-coordinated. The match was played with a fast pace, which did not suit us, because the championship has not started in our country and the players are still in the preparation phase. Let’s move on, we will look for the first points against the Czech Republic. We were playing with them before. They are an experienced team and often participate in major competitions. It will be difficult, but we have to raise the team and we will go there for three points.”
Captain Srđan Ivanković also commented on the match with Armenia:
“A very tough match against a quality team. We opened the game well and took a 2:0 lead. However, later we stopped with that offensive game, and the guests gained wings from each new attack. It’s sad, but we have to move on and try to win in Brno. The Czechs are a more experienced team than Armenia, but they are slower and that could be our chance. We have to go into that match bravely and make up for the points we lost today.”
